Emocute Studio Release Notes

Main changes in each version. Full details are in the CHANGELOG.md bundled with the download.

v8.5.02026-10-28

  • Added polyrhythm layers. Writing 'poly': '3:4' in a section lays three hits over four beats. You can choose the voice (marimba, clave, cowbell and more) and stack as many layers as you like in a list.
  • BPM can now move smoothly inside a section ('bpm': 140, 'bpm_to': 78), with five curve shapes to choose from. Also fixed tempo changes landing off the bar line in songs that mix in meters such as 7/8.

v8.4.202026-10-22

  • A bug-fix release. No new features. Fixed the time signature staying in the sections list you passed in (and affecting the next export), transposition treating rests as note names, and the independent bass playing a perfect fifth on augmented and diminished chords.
  • The jump tools (machine gun, glitch, riser) now write a tempo (before, a DAW read them as 120 BPM). When a tempo curve's first point is not at the start, the song now eases from the base tempo. Also fixed the lyric check missing letter-case differences, --json of the streaming analysis stopping, and the save counter going back and deleting the newest backup.

v8.4.192026-10-20

  • Piano renders no longer sound as if the sustain pedal were always down. Keys in the bed now release before the next hit (at 0.65 of each slot), and the sound left just before each hit drops from -21dB to -27dB.
  • Pedal CCs are removed before rendering with Pianoteq (the MIDI kept for your DAW is unchanged), and create_midi no longer adds the pedal on top of whole notes. The chord sequence is the same as v8.4.18.

v8.4.182026-10-20

  • The backing (bed MP3 / MIDI) sounds better. The chord sequence is the same; how it is played changes. Drum timing is closer to a human player (simultaneous hits stay together, with one slow connected drift over the song), the guide melody sits in a singable range, and the pad stays under the melody.
  • Kick and bass make room for each other properly (fast tempos, 3/4, 6/8, re-attack velocity), and the bass stays centered. Renders are 24-bit and parts are level-matched before mixing, so quiet passages no longer hiss and the mix stage no longer clips.
  • Reference analysis no longer confuses dnb, footwork, half-time trap and house. Streaming mastering follows Spotify's two-tier true-peak rule, and genre names written as Lo-Fi, Drum and Bass, etc. no longer fall back to defaults. About 100 other bugs from QA are fixed.

v8.4.172026-10-18

  • You can now choose Simple or Advanced. In Simple you just give the vibe in a few words and the AI picks key, tempo and structure. In Advanced you can switch 17 settings ON/OFF, such as showing a rough first, adding bass or drums to the bed, and having lyrics critiqued every time.
  • Developer mode is new. For changes no setting covers, you write your own rules with the AI and it follows them every time. Your mode, settings and rules carry over to updates.
  • Bug fixes from QA (out-of-key notes in some minor-key paths, progressions with rests, Japanese-style chord names, Lite auto-update, true peak in streaming mastering, footwork bass, and more). A lyric reading check is new.

v8.4.152026-10-17

  • Fixed minor keys (Am etc.) starting on the major tonic and mixing in notes from outside the key (A♭ and B♭ in Am). Minor keys now start on the minor tonic and stay in the key (minor-key tracks get a different chord sequence from v8.4.14).
  • Exports (MP3, MIDI, WAV, ZIP) no longer silently overwrite or delete earlier output; an existing name gets _2, _3 … instead.
  • Fixed the API server (could return files outside its folder, MIDI creation failed with 500, genre and dictionary lists did not work) and made self-update stop when the downloaded ZIP is not the expected product. Japanese text left in the English edition is now in English.

v8.4.142026-10-17

  • Fixed long tracks stretching the 4-bar chord pattern so a single chord could ring for up to 24 bars. The pattern now repeats to fill the length (tracks of 5 bars or more get a different chord sequence from v8.4.13).
  • Fixed MP3 export hanging for 60 seconds and failing with newer FluidSynth (2.5 and later).
  • More tools stop instead of silently overwriting earlier output, and the release pipeline now stops when mastering fails. The bed no longer adds a melody on its own (add --with-melody for one).

v8.4.132026-10-15

  • Tools no longer silently overwrite files you made earlier. They stop if the output already exists; add --force only when overwriting is intended.
  • Fixed several bugs, including MIDI files with zero notes reported as success, unregistered genres silently getting another genre's Style, and explicit strum / CC settings being ignored when a genre was set.
  • The Suno lyrics template output no longer includes notes, so it can be pasted straight into the lyrics field.

v8.4.122026-10-15

  • Fixed an audio analysis tool overwriting and erasing the source audio when given the same file name.
  • Fixed the accompaniment MP3 being nearly inaudible on setups without a piano sound source. The time signature is now written into the MIDI.
  • Added optional contributor feedback. Only people who register themselves send anything; without registering, nothing is collected or sent.

v8.4.112026-10-15

  • Added 12 progression templates (city pop descent, UK garage 2-step, bossa nova minor turnaround, gospel backdoor, and more).
  • Added dedicated voicings for 45 chord types (maj7, m9, 7#9, 7sus4, etc.) and fixed how accompaniment chords are stacked.
  • Reference analysis now folds doubled BPM readings (e.g. 167 instead of 84) into the right range. Re-rendering under the same name no longer overwrites earlier output.

v8.4.102026-10-14

  • The accompaniment keys can now play through a free grand piano sampled at 16 velocity layers (Salamander Grand Piano V3).
  • It is not bundled; it is downloaded from the official source only after you agree to its license. Without it, playback is unchanged.

v8.4.92026-10-14

  • Lowercase degrees (vi, ii7) are now read as minor chords. Secondary dominants such as V7/V can be written.
  • Fixed keys D#m and A#m being treated as C, which shifted the whole progression.
  • The voice count limit is now respected, and missed parallel fifths/octaves and voice crossings are fixed.

v8.4.82026-10-13

  • Three additions to Suno Style writing: rap and beat tracks exclude melodic layers and chords by default, "make it stronger" raises only distortion and loudness, and the first suggestion avoids the genre of your most recent track.
  • Accompaniment chords now avoid low-register seconds and sevenths below the root, and the parallel fifth/octave check is narrowed to true parallels.

v8.4.72026-10-07

  • You can now pass in your own melody. The accompaniment follows it: it plays quieter, avoids re-striking chords on melody onsets, and breathes at the end of each phrase.
  • Fixed notes played just before a chord change being bent toward the previous chord.
  • Simpler first run: launch in the unzipped folder and say "set it up" — the AI installs the remaining parts in order.

v8.4.62026-10-06

  • Fixed first-run stumbling points on Codex (ChatGPT). The sound font is now stored inside the unzipped folder, and interrupted downloads no longer leave a broken file behind.
  • The guides now have a dedicated Codex section with steps for both Mac and Windows.
  • The auto-update key can now be registered without pasting it into the AI conversation.

v8.4.52026-10-06

  • The guides now cover Codex (OpenAI's official CLI, with a paid ChatGPT plan) and how to launch with it. No program changes.

v8.4.42026-10-05

  • The Suno Style field no longer gets a BPM number inserted automatically.
  • Revised the default Suno parameter values.

v8.4.32026-10-01

  • Added PROGRESSION_GUIDE, a walkthrough for getting smooth chord progressions through Suno.

v8.4.22026-09-25

  • Added auto-update. Say "update" and the latest version is unpacked next to your current folder, which is left untouched.

v8.4.12026-09-16

  • The lyric checker no longer flags Weirdness values that work fine on Suno v6.

v8.4.02026-09-16

  • Suno v6 support. Updated the guides and added a note covering only what changed in v6.

v8.3.72026-08-09

  • Production is now split into two chats — design and build — instead of one chat per song, so long conversations don't drive up cost.

v8.3.62026-08-01

  • Running the bundled tests no longer writes stray files into the install folder.

v8.3.52026-07-31

  • Revised the licence disclaimer and refund policy wording.

v8.3.42026-07-10

  • Stricter prompt checks that now stop before generation on a violation. Genre vocabulary reviewed.

v8.3.32026-07-10

  • Fixed some dominant chords (such as 7alt) turning into a minor-sounding voicing.
  • Reviewed the reharmonisation dictionary and corrected errors.

v8.3.22026-07-09

  • Aligned mismatched references between the Japanese and English chord dictionaries. Output is unchanged.

v8.3.12026-07-09

  • Expanded reharmonisation techniques to 76.

v8.2.32026-07-08

  • Cleaned up wording in the bundled references. Output is unchanged.

v8.2.22026-06-10

  • Full review pass: wording cleanup and engine fixes.

v8.2.12026-05-23

  • Added a notice when a new version is available.

v8.22026-05-23

  • Fixed voicing engine bugs.

v8.12026-05-12

  • Rebuilt to run on Claude Code. Just launch it and the AI reads the project rules and is ready to produce.
  • Many new Suno tools: a renderer that goes from MIDI to MP3 and prompts, reference-track analysis, stem separation and analysis of returned audio, lyric checking and critique, and more.

v8.02026-04-17

  • Initial release.
